Real Talk…From A Real Dad…On Real Life

A single mother in New York turned herself in earlier today after police say she left her two daughters stranded on a sidewalk in Broooklyn.

Dalisha Adams, 26 has been charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Cops say that Adams’ daughters Dominae, 5, and Diani, 3 were spotted earlier this week wandering along a busy street in the Canarsie area of Brooklyn. An elderly couple saw the two children and called police because they were playing without an adult present.

When questioned by the police the older child told them her name and a vague description of her mother’s car and home, but could not give enough information for authorities to identify the mom. The litte girl told a news photographer “Mommy just left us on the sidewalk and drove away”

The mother claims that she left the girls with their grandmother inside of the neighborhood’s Bayview Houses. She says that Bertha Davia, who is the mother of the girls father agreed to watch them. The girls father has been accused of domestic abuse previously, and Adams said she did not enter the home because she feared he would assault her.

There were no visible signs of abuse, and the girls were dressed in hooded coats and UGG Boots. After being taken to a hospital the girls were turned over to child protective services. Authorities at child services apparently recognized the girls and told police who the girls mother is.

Police questioned neighbors who told them that they often heard screaming from the Adams home. They say that she could often be heard screaming “Shut the f*ck up” and threatening to punch her youngest daughter in the face. The neighbor also said that she heard the mother screaming “Stop crying. Shut the f— up. I’m gonna get you out of here”

Stories like this really tear at my heart. These babies seem to be caught in a situation where their mother obviously doesn’t care about their well being, and as far as we can see there is not a father present in the home. Prayerfully, these little girls will be placed in a home with responsible adults who care about them. They didn’t ask to be here. The mother needs to be held accountable for actions, and the grandmother needs to be investigated also. This story really makes me ponder why you have to get a license to drive a car but not to have a child.
